Meet Matt
Matthew began his career as a Diagnostic Radiographer after qualifying from the University of Portsmouth in 2013, joining Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. He progressed into Ultrasound in 2015, developing specialist expertise in musculoskeletal, abdominal/gynaecological, and head and neck imaging, and established an advanced practice head and neck biopsy service. Alongside his clinical work, he also became responsible for sonographer training and later took on the role of Medical Photography Manager.
His commitment to education led him to roles as an Associate Lecturer before becoming Course Lead for Diagnostic Radiography at Health Sciences University, where he helped develop and support the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Matthew joined HSU’s Clinical & Rehabilitation Services leadership team as Interim Clinical Imaging Lead in 2021, becoming substantive in 2022, before being appointed Deputy Director of Clinical & Rehabilitation Services in 2024. He continues to lead clinical imaging services while driving service development, pathway optimisation, and improvements to patient experience.
Clinically, Matthew’s specialist expertise lies in musculoskeletal and head and neck ultrasound imaging. His focus is on delivering accurate, high-quality imaging that supports timely diagnosis, informs treatment decisions, and helps patients access the most appropriate care as quickly as possible.
Patients benefit from a calm and reassuring approach, with time taken to listen to concerns, explain findings clearly, and ensure they feel informed throughout their appointment. Matthew’s specialist expertise in musculoskeletal and head and neck ultrasound helps provide accurate answers and clearer next steps in care.
